Important Role's for Cadin and Smith

Cadin named as new PMF League Liaison Officer

A few eyebrows were raised yesterday after the PMF board announced the appointment of Dr. Olivier Cadin as the first PMF League Liaison Officer, just minutes after hinting that the PMF League could kick off as early as November.

The role for Cadin, is as yet, currently undefined, but it appears that Cadin will be the voice between PMF clubs and the PMF board. There was immediate concern though from some club officials, who wish to remain anonymous. One official stated, "This is just like jobs for the boys, Cadin always was friendly with league officials, and this just proves that point. I'm concerned that any issues that we may have, could have outcomes which are less than satisfactory for the clubs.".

Cadin, who has a doctorate in Mathematics came through the ranks of
management, beginning his career with the Blackpool youth team, before moving to Cambridge. After a successful run he moved on to the SAS League after being snapped up by Ipswich Town. Cadin was a big crowd favourite and despite the odds being stacked against him he managed to save the club from relegation.

Despite saving Ipswich from SAS obscurity Cadin soon resigned after a bust up with the Ipswich board, who he accused of using dirty tactics before an infamous cup tie against Bradford City midway through the season.

Cadin disappeared from the public eye after his shock resignation, choosing instead to spend most of his time on the golf course. Here, he strengthened ties with current England manager Buck Hysen, A man who he became close friends with after the illegal betting scandal which hit the headlines between the two clubs.

Cadin spent several months away from management and the the glare of the public eye until November 2000, when he shocked the World by returning with Bradford City, ironically to replace Buck Hysen, who had left to take the England job.

The closure of the SAS League looks to have ended Cadin's colourful management career for now, but the PMF Board's announcement yesterday that the former manager has become the leagues first PMF League Liaison Officer proves that the outspoken Cadin will yet have a big say on football matters.

Cadin, married with one son, is reportedly delighted with his new position as PMF League Liaison Officer. And is expected to play a big part in the day to day running of the PMF League.

Set to join Cadin on the PMF Board later today is Jonathan Smith. Smith is thought to have agreed terms with the PMF Board to become the Leagues Promotion Officer.

Although an important role for Smith, the new position is thought to be a minor one as Smith will not be involved in the day to day running of the league. Instead Smith is expected to work on the PR side of the League, and the young, but experienced man will be responsible for promoting the new PMF League around the world.

Smith is said to be delighted with his new role, he said, " I understand that I will not be involved behind the scenes at PMF, and that is fine by me. I am delighted that the PMF Board have given me this opportunity and I hope I can serve this new league well by promoting it across the World. "

PMF's Chief Executive Kevin Porter said last night, " I am delighted with the two appointments, both men are excellent additions to the PMF Board and I look forward to working with them both.

Both Olivier and Jonathan have completely different, although equally important roles to play within the league, and I'm positive that both men will do themselves and the league proud over the coming months and years. "

With the PMF League's big kick off thought to be just around the corner, it already looks as though the PMF Board are more than ready for the challenge that lies ahead.
