PFM BOARD ANNOUNCE POSSIBLE BOSMAN TRANSFERS

EFFENBERG, SERGIO TOP ‘FREEBIES’ LIST

By Mark Chang for PFM News

PFM House this morning announced the list of Bosman players who have made themselves available for transfer to the English league.

In a statement released earlier this morning, PFM Executive member Dr. Olivier Cadin disclosed the list of nineteen players from around the UK and Europe.  He said of the possible influx of players, “I feel that as long as the caliber of the players coming into the league is of a high standard then we have no worries, I am more concerned about the large quantity of players with no real background entering the league”.

Top of this list of stars are Bayern Munchen pair Stefan Effenberg and Paulo Sergio.  Effenberg, captain of the Munich-based club and also the German national team, alluded to the possibility of a move to Everton during the off-season, being quoted in a local newspaper as being “very interested in working with Aussie Jones.”

Only two goalkeepers are on the list, namely Turkish international Rustu Recber and Benfica’s German stickman Robert Enke.  Defenders included Russia’s Yuri Nikiforov, Luxembourg legend Jeff Strasser, highly-rated Cambridge United star Andy Duncan, and former Belgium international Tjorven De Brul.  Nigerian star Jay-Jay Okocha, Scottish strikers Robbie Winters and Gary McSwegan, and Iranian star Ali Daei also made the list.

Meanwhile, the troubles don’t end for relegated Sheffield United, as today they had five star players announce they will be activating their relegation release clauses.  Bulgarian international goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov (signing fee 300k), defenders Robert Page (350k) and Alpay Ozalan (400k), temperamental French midfielder David Ginola (650k) and solid Finnish striker Jonatan Johansson (500k) have all made themselves available to clubs at low prices.
