CORICA "UNSURE" OF FUTURE

Transfer market hotting up, but will Corica be joining?

by Mark Chang for PMF News

The PMF Transfer Market, due to re-open for just the fourth time this weekend, is set to cause quite a stir in the coming days as clubs attempt to sign star players not based in PMF.

The market has already seen the likes of Fabio Cannavaro grace its path, and has welcomed international players such as Hakan Sukur (Manchester United) and John Carew (Sunderland) to these shores. And this weekend's action looks likely to create some surprises.

Steve Corica, nearly out of contract at his J-League side Sanfrecce, told reporters yesterday "I'm not too sure where I'm going to go. I know I'm on the PMF Transfer Market, and that some big clubs are chasing after me, but apparently there may be some problems."

Corica, 29 in March, has been the subject of two outlandish bids from Division 2 sides Leicester City and Ipswich Town. Leicester, managed by Steve's cousin Robbie, has made a £4.5 million bid for the £800,000-rated midfielder, while Ipswich made a sensational £5 million bid to try and capture his services. But with the boards of both clubs sure to block these approaches, the future of the former Leicester and Wolverhampton Wanderers star - whose J-League contract expires in February - hangs in the balance.

In other market news, Slovenian international defender Marinko Galic looks set for a reporter £1.1 million switch to Marce Del Niero's Wimbledon side, while free transferred players including Patrick Agyemang and Ian Feuer having their picks of a few bids in the coming days.

With the market already causing some concern for clubs - Arsenal one example, being sensationally beaten by a last-gasp £16.5 million Liverpool bid for Dutch defender Kevin Hofland last month - things are sure to get ugly in the coming days as clubs look to strengthen their sides for the second half of the season.
