BRAID AND WALKER ANALYSE UP TO XMAS Expert comments on the opening half of the season Official PMF Newspaper correspondant, Liam Braid and Mark Walker got together to analyse the PMF teams performances at the halfway point of the season, and put together their tips for the top. DIVISION ONE Braid: Well Newcastle have come from nowhere to head the table at the halfway point. Personally I couldn't have predicted them to have done so well, so soon. Moeri's off field problems will need to be ironed out though if he's going to get anything from this league, and with the reputation he carries that may be easier said than done. Liverpool are just one point behind, and they should make that up in no time, I still see them as the favourites for the title, they seem settled under Harboe and are constantly performing to a high standard. Arsenal and Leeds seem to be slipping slightly, whereas the other teams seem to be playing a bit of catch up. Borls appointment at Man Utd has ressurected that team, but I think its too little too late from them.
BRAIDS PREDICTED TABLE Walker: After Palat's shock resignation Arsenal will have it all to do now, and I feel that the changes being made so suddenly could damage their title chances. I agree that Liverpool seem to have the most settled team in the division, and fancy them for the title. Newcastle have a great side, but I still think they lack the killer touch for this season. Leeds are a steady club, and on their day could provide a few scares to the top teams, so I wouldn't write them off just yet either.
WALKERS PREDICTED TABLE DIVISION 2 Braid: Vlatask is still the man for me in division 2, he's got his side firing on all cylinders. With the tables turning on Everton I actually feel that they may even struggle for promotion this season as the other teams around them seem to be improving, whereas Everton are struggling to get the results. Moss has been a superb manager for Boro and it wouldn't surprise me to see him guide them into the top flight. West Ham and Villa are improving at a considerable pace, and may even scrape another term in division 2.
BRAIDS PREDICTED TABLE Walker: Despite the few recent glitches, I still feel that Everton are the strongest team in the division, they have depth all over the team and I believe that they are in cruise control to the title. Moss' at Boro has been outstanding and I can see them taking the second spot, I think it will be a close fought battle at the bottom, but I feel that Villa and Southampton are looking the weakest teams, and should go down.
WALKERS PREDICTED TABLE DIVISION 3 Braid: I had predicted that Bradford wouldn't be able to carry on at the top, but they have proved me wrong and I believe that the title in division 3 has already gone to them, unless they have a major slip up nothing should stop them. I'm having a bit of money on the cup for Sheffield Wednesday, and recently they have looked to be one of the best teams in the entire league, not just in the division. Derby and Fulham will offer too little too late, I think it will be close at the bottom, but Maldini has the power now to get out of relegation and should see Bolton clear.
BRAIDS PREDICTED TABLE Walker: I believe my selection last time was spot on, and I can't see any changes. Fulham will claw back the points on the pack and should scrape into second place, Bradford should run away with it. I see the bottom four the same as my colleague, Wimbledon haven't done enough this season, and Coventry are looking weak.
WALKERS PREDICTED TABLE DIVISION 4 Braid: Man City are coasting this division, and have done enough already in my eyes to clinch the title. It should be a close fought battle for the second spot, but I think Silva has been the best man to follow on from Harboe and is continuing his great work at Wolves. I can see the Portugese master getting them up in his first year. Barnsley are a team on a very slippery slope, and with negative tactics recently I can see them going down.
BRAIDS PREDICTED TABLE Walker: My comments last time are still valid now, "I agree that Barnsley's season looks doomed now, I'd also predict them to go down this season. Norwich are putting together a young team, and may have enough energy to scrape out of this one. For the top spot I'm predicting Man City and Birmingham to be the top two, both have great following, and this support should edge them up the divisions. It will be interesting to see how important Birmighams win over Manchester City proves."
