PFM MANAGERS GET
THEIR INTERNATIONAL BOWS Hansen replaces Hysen in England position by Johnny Gilbert for PFM News In a rather surprising turn of events, no less than five PFM managers have found themselves in international management this week as the profile of the league grows and grows. With PFM's long-awaited Season 2 still a number of months from its beginning, several FA's from around Europe have jumped at the chance to bring in the talented managers of the English league to help their chances in the qualifiers for the European Championships in Portugal in 2004. The biggest story is Manchester City manager Matt Hansen accepting the England post, replacing caretaker manager Stuart Pearce. Hansen was one of the success stories of PFM's first season, coming from nowhere to steer City to success in Division 4 and the PFM Cup, and is apparently delighted to have finally been given the opportunity to manage the senior England side. Bolton Wanderers manager Rich McRich completed a fantasy return to management when he secured the position of Scotland manager for the second time in two years, following the sacking of Chris Porter. McRich managed the Scots for just one game last year before being forced out of the game with horrific eye injuries. His return already has Scottish fans looking forward to the qualifiers. Blackburn Rovers gaffer Pat McEvoy also had a job offer, taking over the position vacated by Mick McCarthy in Ireland. Impressive new Watford boss Christian Hjulsgaard was also offered a job from his homeland, taking over the deposed Morten Olsen in Denmark. Rounding out the international jobs was Manchester United boss Ani Palat, who has signed a part-time contract with the Portugal national side, replacing the resigned Max Powers with the Iberian Peninsula side. |
