PMF BOARD MEMBERS LOCK HORNS

PORTER ACCUSES CADIN OF GOING BEHIND HIS BACK

by Mark Chang for PMF News

Two of the greatest friends in PMF and founder members of the PMF board Kevin Porter and Dr Olivier Cadin are said to be furious with each other after a massive boardroom row at the weekend.

News leaked out at the weekend that Dr Olivier Cadin had sanctioned research to be carried out across the globe regarding the PMF league, although Porter is apparently furious with Cadin for allowing £1.2m of PMF funds to be used in the project.

Neither party have made any official announcement yet, but many PMF officials have apparently told close friends of the furious row which apparently occurred on Saturday evening at PMF house.

Porter is said to be furious with Cadin for not only authorising the change of the name of the league, but also for allowing funds to be taken from the PMF bank account without his say so.

The two have been extremely good friends since they both joined the SAS league within a few days of each other back in 1999. Cadin taking on the managerial post at Ipswich Town, whilst Porter was part of Buck Hysen's backroom staff at Bradford City. Both men enjoyed great success during the 1st ever SAS season and remained friends despite an explosive SAS Cup quarter final clash which saw Bradford City narrowly defeat Ipswich Town 2-1.

Ironically it was Cadin who moved to Porter's old club after he took a break from football after Hysen moved into the England hotseat.

Porter though, the original founder of the PMF league wasted no time in appointing his old friend to the PMF board before PMF's opening season kicked off in November 2001.

Both men ran the league together during PMF's early days, although Porter took a back seat role just before Christmas when Cory Skilton was appointed onto the board, and handed over the running of the league to Cadin.

It is unsure exactly what role Porter has had to play over the past few weeks. It is believed that the former chairman has had a lot more input into the league over the past month, but rumour has it that Porter and Cadin now both have a controlling interest in PMF, possibly along with other board members.

PMF authorities have always kept it secret as to who exactly owns what shares in PMF. Although it is now believed that Porter and Cadin probably have an equal controlling interest in the league, whilst other board members Cory Skilton, Ruan Daniels and Ben McCabe have a limited number of shares between them.

With the PMF rumoured to be undergoing a massive face lift within the next few years, both Porter and Cadin will both feel that they are the man to lead the PMF league into the future.

Cadin is also said to have pumped a large amount of his own wealth into the league and therefore may believe that he has the right to controlling interest in the league, but as Porter is the founder of the league he too will believe that he should control the league.

As we await an official announcement from both men we can only speculate whether the friendship between Porter and Cadin is over. Despite a few minor hiccups many believe that the two have made an impressive job of running PMF thus far, but what will happen should the two men decide to part company?

What will happen to the PMF league. Will it be run by Cadin? Will it be run by Porter? Will other board members insist on a larger controlling interest in the league? Or will the PMF league be forced to close down just as quickly as it began?

The latter seems unlikely, especially after the PMF board have worked so hard in building up the league, although surely it cannot be ruled out.

Many PMF players, managers and supporters will surely be shocked and worried by this weekends events, and they will want questions answered.

For now though, we can only wait to see what Cadin and Porter say on the matter.
