PFA UNHAPPY WITH TREATMENT OF PLAYERS

PFM Board Set to Investigate Player Releases

by Joey Johns for PMF News

The Professional Footballers Association (PFA) today claimed that they were "unhappy" with the treatment of PFM players recently, after a spate of clubs released large numbers of players in the past few weeks.

PFA spokesperson Kylie Jones told reporters today that they were set to ask the PFM Board to launch an investigation into the surprising numbers of released players.

She admitted the number of released players overall was low, when compared to other leagues, but with PFM not in any financial difficulties, she said the PFA found it hard to understand why clubs were going to such drastic measures to cut down their squad sizes.

Disturbingly, a large majority of the players released have been reserve players who only signed full-time contracts within the past two months.  Promising players like Duong Thach of Bolton Wanderers and Andreas Dahl of Coventry City have all had their contracts terminated without ever having played a senior game for their clubs.

Mrs. Jones said that the PFA was looking at some legal representation for the players.  The PFM Board has yet to comment officially, but they are expected to launch a full investigation into the matter early next month.
