AUSSIE KEEPER TO TERMINATE CONTRACT

Unhappy Schwarzer Wants to Go

by Johnny Gilbert for PMF News

There was controversy for Middlesbrough FC today when giant Australian goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer told reporters in Japan that he "will not return to the Riverside".

Schwarzer, who has failed to report for preseason training, spoke from his national team's base in Tokyo - where they are preparing for today's friendly international against Japan.

"I have no desire to return there" he said.  "I have been treated poorly by them (management)."

"I have been accused of punching out the manager (Mike Moss), and that's a complete load of crap - it was a training ground accident and he knows it".

He later went on to say that he will look into terminating the remainder of his contract at the club if a resolution is not found soon.

Middlesbrough have already scared off potential suitors for the player by apparently failing to respond to a £1m offer from Scottish champions Glasgow Celtic, and would be lucky to get half that now for a player who hasn't trained for nearly four months.

Schwarzer's manager at international level Aussie Jones is thought to be interested in acquiring the player as backup for Everton incumbent Mark Bosnich.

A decision will be made by the player this weekend.
