PMF TO TARGET OUTER
REGIONS OF THE WORLD By Mark Chang for PMF News The PMF Franchise is set to be advertised in some of the
World’s most sparsely populated and poorest areas under a new scheme
announced today by the League’s Promotion Officer, Jonathan Smith. The plan was announced at a press conference held at PMF
House, as a side-story to that of the more major issue concerning the
upcoming international friendlies. Speaking about the new scheme Smith
commented: "As PMF itself is still a fairly new league some parts of
the world are still ignorant as to what exactly is going on in English
football at the moment. With PMF representing a massive field in sporting
entertainment, we feel it is time that we spread the word far and wide." Over the coming months a team of PMF representatives will
travel the world taking with them merchandise, information packs, photos and
gifts which will be issued to some of the world’s poorest children. Among
the stops on the list are Ecuador, (as part of the deal which sees their
national team play Northern Ireland in February) Kenya, Romania, Bangladesh
and Mexico. The tour workers will also be working closely with the
national football federations in the countries they visit, in an attempt to
try and improve facilities and coaching. Speaking about the selected
countries Smith said he had sincerely hopes the tour will encourage football
development in a number of countries: "In some of the places we will be visiting football is
simply not played at all and most of the kids won’t have had the chance to
even watch a football match on television. If we can introduce them to the
magic of the game then maybe we can inspire a few young minds. If one kid
from any of the countries we visit was playing in PMF within 5 years, the
tour would be a success." One of the PMF workers, Sylvia Bradshaw, already working
on putting the plan together, said it would be wonderful if they could
perhaps get some football celebrities on the trip: "Obviously we would be working around the busy PMF
schedule, but as this trip will be going on for most of the year we’re
hoping that perhaps one or two managers and players will perhaps be able to
accompany us on the trip. For the kids we see that actually know a bit about
the PMF stars, to meet one in person would be a dream come true." The scheme is expected to cost in the region of a 5-figure
sum but Smith finished by saying that it would be money well spent: "When you think how money is splashed around within the
league these days, a few hundred thousand pounds for a good cause is really
quite insignificant. I’m very much looking forward to the scheme and I hope
it will be a big success." |
