Player's Say - October 2002
Friday 11th October
Harry
Kewell (Leeds) "delighted" with departure of Chris Porter
Kennedy Bakircioglu (Bolton) looking forward to season Source: PFM Sports "It's a great honour to finally move to England. I know I had many scouts watching me from around Europe, but I knew when Bolton went to sign me, they were the right club. We have a great amount of potential here, we are over our little problems with the squad and we must be favourites now for the title".

Taribo West (Middlesbrough) reveals he's "never met" his manager Source: PFM Sports "We've had some problems here at Middlesbrough. Already we are most people's favourites to get relegated from Division 2, and this hurts us as a team, and me as a player. I can understand the fans being angry with our manager (Mike Moss) though...since I joined the club two months ago, I've never properly met him. I have seen him occasionally at the training ground but, at the moment, the coaching staff are taking care of us. It is a worrying sign".
Mark Bosnich (Everton)
"unsure of 3-2-5 formation" "At Everton we have a great team, and I can understand that we are favourites to win the Division 1 title this season, we showed last season we could mix it with the best. But I'm still a bit unsure of the 3-2-5 formation the gaffer (Aussie Jones) has planned. As a goalkeeper I know that, to do my job, I need a defence I can be confident of in front of me. I'm willing to give it a try though, as is everyone else at the club, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it works, it should be exciting".
David Ginola (Coventry)
denies bust-up with Brady "I can categorically say that I have not had a bust-up with our manager James Brady. It is true, I like to speak my mind, and sometimes we do not get along very well. But James is the same, and I respect him for that. He won't take any nonsense from the players, me included, and I respect that".
Alex Manninger (Arsenal) wants to clear up his future Source: Interview with BBC Sports "I've found it hard to really train my hardest at Arsenal so far. Last season at Fiorentina I was an important member of the team, but there were big problems there. Now I am back here at Arsenal, where I want to be, but I can't get a straight answer from the management. We have three other very good goalkeepers here (David Seaman, Richard Wright, Stuart Taylor), and I need to know whether I am part of Max Powers' plans. If not, I can begin looking for another club. My international career for Austria is under threat right now, and I want to get this settled as soon as possible".
Mikele Leigertwood (Wimbledon) denies major problems at the New Plough Source: Player's Personal Website "I don't care what the critics say, everything is fine here at Wimbledon. These big problems that everyone keeps saying will stop us from being successful are pure BS. True, we've had a big player turnover here, but to combat this the gaffer (DJ Hedley) has us in most days, doing bonding exercises to get to know each other and trust each other better. We have a big squad that is probably as good as any in the division, and we'll be up for the title this season".
Alessandro Nesta (Juventus)
reveals why he turned down PFM "It was a very tough decision to make. To have the likes of Manchester United and Newcastle United after me was very flattering, but I needed to make a tough decision. I remember reading what the Manchester chairman Peter Kenyon said, that I need to make a jump forward from Lazio and not a lateral one, so I chose Juventus. We have European football here, whereas in England they don't. I want to stay in Italy also to stay in the plans of Giovanni Trapattoni".
